Background

Ökologische Molkereien Allgäu (ÖMA) is a manufacturer and distributor of organic cheese specialties for the natural foods retail sector. What began in a garage in a small town in the Allgäu region has, over the course of more than 35 years, grown into one of Europe’s largest full-range suppliers of organic cheese. This success is built on long-term partnerships with production facilities and their milk suppliers.

The company combines Allgäu tradition with a modern business approach, serving as both a brand supplier and a service provider. ÖMA was founded in 1986 and is now headquartered in Lindenberg, just a 30-minute drive from Lake Constance.

ÖMA is dedicated to supporting small-scale farming, artisanal organic cheese dairies, and organic alpine dairies. Its goal is to preserve and promote the diversity of the cultural landscape, agriculture, and traditional crafts in the Allgäu region.

Its core tasks include consolidating the organic cheese specialties produced by its partner dairies and processing them according to demand—from slicing and grating to packaging for retailers and institutional customers. In addition, ÖMA handles order fulfillment, legally compliant labeling, quality assurance, and the development of new products in collaboration with its partner dairies.

Task

Support in further developing and refining the ÖMA brand and preparing for the brand relaunch.

Solution

Within the extended management team, a multi-stage strategic process was first used to refine and define the core corporate and brand objectives. Building on this foundation, the brand was systematically refined and realigned according to the ebene c brand model.
The structured process made it possible to incorporate different perspectives from management and functional departments and to create a shared understanding of the future brand positioning. In the process, the brand’s values, attitude, and strategic guidelines were identified and translated into a consistent brand structure.
ebene c then consolidated the insights and strategic foundations gained, together with ÖMA’s marketing team, into an agency briefing as a strategic roadmap for creative implementation.
Since then, ebene c has supported ÖMA as a sparring partner, also acting as an external driver and discussion partner for the agreed-upon to-dos that ensure ÖMA’s success.
